X-Force # 4 Preview
by Si Spurrier and Jorge Molina
I was a little wary of this new X-force book, because:
A. I was so overtly disappointed with Uncanny X-force v2
B. Cable and X-force was so good
C. The first issue did not sit well with me (you may recall me wanting to cut my eyes out as a result of the ‘Marrow’ narration.
But with subsequent issues it quickly became apparent that I was having an issue with adjusting my expectations. Maybe it just took Si a few issues to adjust to the different tone than he was doing on a regular basis, but the last two issues have each been exponentially better than the one before. I was thrown off by the lack of answers and instant gratification I was receiving, but as soon as I just let the story unfold as it would, I began to really enjoy the character work being done. I am still intrigued by why Fantomex is being written so differently, but there doesn’t seem to be much going on that doesn’t have intention behind it.
Basically, I am very excited for the Fantomex issue. I think the single character POV rotation works really well, and I am a bit curious to see if there is any more mention of the Cluster debacle, though it really wouldn’t bother me if the line in the preview is all we get for right now.
